Counter Terrorism Security Advice

Vigilance against terrorist threats - we are all responsible

We are all responsible for being vigilant against the threat of terrorism and for reporting any behaviour which raises concerns or suspicions.

It is important to remain vigilant around crowded places as modern-day terrorist tactics include suicide bombings targeted at areas where many people congregate, which can cause large numbers of casualties.

Examples of crowded places are shopping centres, sports stadia, transport terminals, cinemas and theatres.

Counter Terrorism Security Advisors (CTSAs) work within Nottinghamshire Special Branch to protect crowded places.

CTSAs are trained and coordinated by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO). Their main responsibilities include promoting awareness of the current terrorist threat and how businesses can implement protective security measures to mitigate the threat.

CTSAs also work closely with other UK police forces, Government and non-Governmental departments to share intelligence and counter the threat from terrorists.

If you consider any behaviour or acitivity to be suspicious or potentially connected with terrorism please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101.

Business owners

VSATIs your business in a crowded place or does it enjoy a high footfall of members of the public?

If so, you may want to consider completing a free, online and confidential security survey that enables businesses to asses their vulnerability to attack and to identify and reduce any vulnerabilities.

The survey, from the National Counter Terrorism Office (NaCTSO), is now available to all businesses in Nottinghamshire.

If you would like to complete it, contact your local CTSA by emailing ctsa@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk or calling 101, ext. 800 1035.

State your name and business address and you will receive password protected access as a registered user.

Further information is available on the National Counter Terrorism Office (NaCTSO) website by clicking here.
